Scratch The Date
Effective Date: September 15, 2025
Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation (CSAE) Policy
Protecting Children on Scratch The Date
Scratch The Date is an adults-only (18+) service. We have zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation
(CSAE) in any form—including text, links, AI-generated or manipulated content, grooming, and sexual extortion. All
users must be 18 or older to access the App.
Our Commitment
- Private Connections Only: Users can only connect with a partner by exchanging a unique ID. Only
text communication is allowed and only after both users have accepted a connection.
- No Public Content: Scratch The Date does not host public posts, comments, or group chats. All
communication is private and only between connected partners.
- Immediate Removal and Account Actions: We remove suspected or confirmed CSAE content or
accounts without notice and take immediate enforcement actions, including permanent account bans and
device/identifier blocks.
- Mandatory Reporting and Preservation: We promptly preserve relevant data and, where legally
required or appropriate, report suspected or confirmed CSAM/CSAE to the competent authority (e.g., NCMEC for U.S.
users) or national hotlines/law enforcement, and cooperate with lawful requests.
- Age Assurance for 18+: We use automated signals, user-provided birthdates, and behavioral
checks to prevent under-18 use. Accounts suspected to belong to minors are suspended or removed, and where
appropriate, reported to the relevant authorities.
- AI Content Restrictions: AI-generated content must not depict or involve minors in sexual
contexts. Any violations are treated as CSAE and enforced accordingly.
- Content Review: All text shared between users is subject to review if reported for CSAE
violations. Flagged content is reviewed and appropriate actions are taken promptly.
- Triage and Timelines: Imminent risk reports are addressed immediately. All other CSAE reports
are reviewed as quickly as possible, typically within 24 hours, though response times may vary depending on
volume.
- User Safety Tools: Users can block and report others within the App. In cases of imminent risk,
contact local law enforcement first and submit an in-app report to allow us to act swiftly.
Definitions (Non-Exhaustive)
- CSAM/CSAE: Any sexual content involving a minor or appearing to involve a minor, including
real, AI-generated, or manipulated content and instructions to obtain or create it.
- Grooming: Behavior intended to build trust with a minor to facilitate sexual exploitation.
- Sexual Extortion: Coercing someone (especially minors) to provide sexual content or money under
threat.
How to Report Violations
- In-App Reporting: Use the reporting tools available in the App. Include usernames, timestamps,
and any relevant context.
- Email: Report directly to support@walmin.com with
usernames, timestamps, and any
context you can provide.
- Emergency Reporting: If there is an imminent risk to a child, contact local law enforcement
immediately before submitting a report.
- Global Hotlines: Report suspected child sexual abuse or exploitation to your local or national
child protection hotline. A comprehensive directory of hotlines worldwide is available here: Child Helpline International.
What Happens After You Report
- Review and Action: We review the report, remove violating content, and take enforcement actions
up to and including permanent bans.
- Reporting to Authorities: Where legally required or appropriate, we report suspected or
confirmed CSAM/CSAE to the relevant authorities and preserve associated data.
- Limited Notifications: To protect victims and the integrity of investigations, we may limit
what is disclosed about actions taken.
Training, Audits, and Accountability
- Reviewer Training: Our team is trained on best practices for handling CSAE reports and adheres
to safety and wellbeing guidelines.
- Access Controls: CSAE workflows use strong access controls, logging, and audit procedures to
ensure data security.
- Transparency: We publish aggregate statistics about CSAE moderation and reporting in
transparency materials, without exposing individual users.
General User Responsibility
Users are solely responsible for the content they send. Scratch The Date does not create or endorse user messages,
but strictly enforces CSAE policies to protect minors. By using the App, you agree not to attempt to circumvent
safety controls or submit any content that could involve minors in sexual contexts.
Legal Compliance
We comply with all applicable laws regarding the protection of minors and the reporting of child sexual abuse
material, including COPPA (U.S.), KCSIE (UK), and EU regulations.
